Ground Focus
Stories that matter
Why GroundFocus? Because we believe in the need to report important stories from the bottom up, living a place, listening to its people, capturing their story. We travel to contexts that we have come to know intimately in the past two decades while working in the humanitarian field, where a network of friends and contacts help us to immerge ourselves in the story.
In the era of an information credibility crisis, we endeavor to apply the highest standards of ethical journalism: truth and accuracy, effective fact-checking, independence, fairness and impartiality, humanity and accountability. Through documentary films, long form journalism and photography reportages, GroundFocus seeks to enable inclusive discussions on the root causes of inequality. We stress quality, creativity, and beauty in what we do, as well as purpose: we want our creativity to translate into a direct contribution toward tipping the balance in favour of the least favoured.
We aim to bring to the attention of the general public and the mainstream media un- or under-reported stories. Stories that matter.

Averting all-out civil war in Syria
International diplomacy should declare its unequivocal support for the peaceful protesters and the deluge of peaceful demonstrations still flooding the streets of many Syrian cities, thus pushing for a steady shift of power relations on the ground back to the political, rather than military, realm. These demonstrations bear witness to the determination and bravery of those ordinary Syrians who are steadfast in their resolve to uphold the moral high ground vis-à-vis the regime.
